Winnipeg’s worst intersections

Five sites saw 10,000 accidents in the last decade

Action is being taken to reduce the number of collisions at five Winnipeg intersections where nearly 10,000 accidents have occurred over the last decade.

MPI figures show the corner at Leila Avenue and McPhillips Street in the city’s northwest was the worst offender, with more than 2,300 mishaps.

MPI also says more than half the crashes at all five locations involved rear-end collisions.

A two-year pilot project involving a dedicated police presence, intersection signage and general public awareness at three of the corners is being launched to help reduce the number of accidents.
