The doctors are not in: two Toronto surgeons face fraud charges

They allegedly billed the provincial health system for surgeries at which they were not present

Two Toronto surgeons are facing fraud charges over surgeries at which they allegedly weren’t even present. OPP says the two men were working as oral surgeons in the department of dentistry at Mount Sinai hospital at the time of the alleged offences.

Provincial police say two Toronto surgeons are facing fraud charges for sums totalling more than $200,000.

Police say the surgeons also allegedly added insured billings to surgeries.

Dr. George Sandor was arrested in Finland, where he had moved shortly after the investigation began, and police brought him back to Canada to face three counts of fraud for sums totalling more than $68,000.

Dr. Cameron Clokie was arrested earlier this month and is facing two counts of fraud for values totalling more than $139,000.
