RISK: HSBC suspends personal banking sites after cyber attack

Thousands of customers were affected by a blackout earlier this month

HSCB has suspended its personal banking websites in the UK after a cyber attack which, the bank tweeted, it successfully fended off.

“We are working hard to restore services and normal service is now being resumed,” the bank tweeted at 11:22 am GMT. “We apologise for any inconvenience.”

Customers are asked to visit local branches to conduct urgent business.

Earlier this month, thousands of UK customers were affected by a blackout, which the bank said wasn’t due to a cyber attack. Service was restored after two days.
