President & CEO Alister Campbell leaves The Guarantee

Insurer confirms Campbell will “step down effective immediately”.

The Guarantee Company of North America has confirmed that their president and CEO Alister Campbell has left his position at the company.

In a statement to Canadian Insurance Top Broker late Thursday evening, the insurer’s Chairman of the Board, Maureen Cowan, said the Board of Directors confirmed that Campbell “will step down effective immediately”.

“In the interim, Jules Quenneville is appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company effective immediately,” the statement said.  “Jules, along with the Company’s strong management team, will continue to execute our plan and build on the momentum that has been established. The Board would like to thank Alister for his contributions to The Guarantee and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The release gave no further details or reasons for Campbell having left the company.

Prior to joining The Guarantee as CEO in June 2012, Campbell was president, CEO and Chief Agent of Zurich Canada from October 2007.

He was “accountable for driving The Guarantee’s continued profitable growth, and overall strategy and operations in Canada and the United States”, according to the release announcing Campbell’s appointment as CEO in 2012.

Campbell has held senior executive positions in a range of capacities within the life and P&C insurance industries over the past 28 years, the release said, including general management, marketing, brokerage distribution strategy, financial services and e-commerce.

He previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Property & Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation (PACICC) and as deputy chair of the board of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC).

Campbell has been active in the insurance industry since 1985, according to the National Insurance Conference of Canada (NICC) website, where he is listed as a speaker at this year’s conference. He is a member of the board of directors of the Global Risk Institute and the United Way of Greater Toronto Campaign Cabinet, for the fifth consecutive year.
