New president for Can-Sure Underwriting, Beacon Underwriting

Cameron Copeland succeeds Jeff Hart, founder of Can-Sure

Can-Sure Underwriting and Beacon Underwriting have appointed Cameron Copeland to the role of president, which was effective April 15, 2107.

Copeland succeeds Jeff Hart, founder of Can-Sure, who has decided to step away from the industry to spend more time with his family and pursue other business opportunities. Can-Sure was established in 2003 and has since merged with two other MGAs, broadened lines and services, and grown to 130 staff in five offices across Canada.

“It’s been a privilege to start a MGA and to work closely with staff and partners to build it into one of the largest MGAs in Canada,” said Hart. This industry is exciting, dynamic, and continues to experience rapid change.”

Hart will remain with the company for a period of time as an executive advisor.

Copeland previously held the role of underwriting manager and has been with the company for six years. He served in the senior leadership team and contributed to marketing, product development, sales, staff management, and numerous growth initiatives. Plans for the future include growth through product innovation, new product lines, market territories, acquisitions and creating a broker portal to support broker services.

Copeland has a master’s degree in business administration from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. and designations from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and the Insurance Institute of Canada. “Working with Jeff as a partner and as a friend to build a market-leading organization has been a great experience and privilege for me,” said Copeland. “I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to lead this organization and build on what Jeff has created for brokers in Canada.”
