Marsh Canada appoints new president and CEO

Sarah Robson will succeed Chris Lay, who has been named CEO of Marsh’s U.K. and Ireland region

Sarah Robson has been named the new president and CEO of Marsh Canada. She succeeds Chris Lay, who has been appointed CEO of Marsh’s U.K. and Ireland region.

Based in Toronto, Robson, who has 25 years of experience at Marsh, will report to Martin South, president of Marsh U.S. and Canada.

“With over 30 years of experience across the insurance sector, Sarah is an ideal choice to take our Canadian business to the next stage of its development,” South said in a news release.

Robson started her career in Canada as an underwriter with Chubb before becoming financial and professional practice leader and then specialties leader for Marsh Canada. She most recently served as a managing director in Marsh’s U.S. business and global relationship manager in its insurer consulting group.

“I am excited to be returning to Marsh Canada to work again with colleagues who have an excellent reputation for providing high levels of client service,” Robson said. “I look forward to working with them to develop the innovative services and solutions our clients need to address their rapidly evolving risk and insurance requirements.”

Lay will report to Flavio Piccolomini, president of Marsh International, in his new role. A 30-year Marsh veteran, Lay has held a number of senior roles with the company, including president of global captive solutions, head of global sales, business development leader for Marsh International and head of the corporate division in the U.K.
