Lynn Oldfield, the president and CEO of AIG Canada, is the winner of the 2017 Greater Toronto Area Fellow of Distinction Award.

The award–which is presented by The CIP Society, a division of The Insurance Institute of Canada–recognizes a member of the property and casualty insurance industry for outstanding achievement. Only those with a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation are eligible, as is it is the highest designation in the P&C industry; FCIP signifies comprehensive knowledge of elements like strategy, leadership, financial management and enterprise risk management.

To win, an insurance professional must be nominated by his or her colleagues, and a nominating review committee makes the final selections. Oldfield’s colleagues put her name forward due to her help in steering her company through significant challenges, including the 2008-2009 financial crisis. When she found out she won, Oldfield said, “What a surprise, honour and a true privilege to receive this recognition.”

She will receive the Fellow of Distinction Award at the CIP Society’s Fellows’ Reception on May 9 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto.
