Insurance Institute launches new programs and restructures old ones

A new app helps prepare students for the Principles and Practice of Insurance exam

Changes are afoot at the Insurance Institute, CEO Peter Hohman told NICC attendees in Montreal today.

The Institute recently launched a three-course risk management certificate program. Completers qualify for up two elective CIP credits and can write the exams leading to the CRM designation.

Earlier this fall, the Institute also introduced a four-course Advance CIP Program focusing on management skills and knowledge development. For professionals who don’t hold an undergraduate degree, it will satisfy the university pre-entry requirement of the Fellowship Program.

Beginning in December, CIP and General Insurance Essentials exam will start a two-year transition to computer-based formats. Exam content will remain a combination of narrative response and objective-style questions.

The Institute has also launched an app to help students prepare for the Principles and Practice of Insurance exam. The app includes practice questions and an industry glossary.
