IBC promotes fire safety in NB
New campaign equips New Brunswick homes with smoke alarms.
November 10, 2011

“Most fires are preventable. Smoke alarms can save lives and property, but only if they are properly installed and maintained,” said Bill Adams, Atlantic vice president, IBC. “[This campaign] will help New Brunswickers take action on fire prevention and fire safety.”
The Alarmed and Ready campaign will see the province’s firefighters going door-to-door providing free smoke alarms to households that don’t have one, and replacement batteries to households that already have alarms.
“I am glad that such a campaign to reduce the number of homes without smoke alarms is taking place in our province”, said Robert Trevors, New Brunswick’s Minister of Public Safety. “Fire safety starts in every home and this is the kind of initiative that helps make our communities safer.”
The Alarmed and Ready campaign will run through to the spring of 2012 in communities across the province.
