Predicts premiums could rise more than $3 million collectively

An interesting story is running today from the Herald News on how lack of proper equipment and staffing for fire crews in Halifax could mean rising insurance costs for homeowners. The takeaway for our industry, as the news website reports, is  that a downtown city councillor argues “Subpar firefighter staffing could lead to a downgrade in the city’s fire rating, potentially increasing fire insurance premiums in Halifax and Dartmouth by more than $3 million collectively, an underwriters report indicated.”
