Chubb veteran rejoins insurer to manage its middle market commercial product line

Barbara Sandelands began her career more than 30 years ago at Chubb

Chubb is welcoming Barbara Sandelands back into the fold in the newly created role of manager for the insurer’s Customarq package product arm. Sandelands will also be an executive vice president at the company.

Sandelands will be responsible for profit and loss, product and system development, and distribution management of the company’s Customarq package policy, which offers property and liability insurance protection to middle market clients in Canada and the U.S. Sandelands will report to Paul Lewis, executive vice president and chief underwriting officer of commercial insurance.

“Barb will bring deep product and underwriting knowledge to our team and will play a critical role in driving the strategy for the next generation of our flagship Customarq product,” says Lewis in a statement.

Sandelands joins Chubb from CNA Financial Corp., where she was senior vice president of underwriting services, a role she took on in 2016. Prior to her time at CNA, she was the workers’ compensation manager for Chubb’s commercial insurance division. Sandelands originally joined Chubb in 1984 and held various underwriting and managerial positions, including general liability manager and quality assurance specialist/property rewrite manager.
