APRIL Canada enhances broker support with new appointments

The re-organization reflects the company's shift to a regional focus

APRIL Canada has promoted three staff members to regional vice-president roles in a move to support brokers on a more regional level.

“Across the country we recognize that the market is different, as are our various challenges, opportunities and strategies. For example, as a market leader in Quebec, our strategy in supporting our brokers is very different to Western Canada where we are building from a smaller scale,” says Nick Kidd, CEO of APRIL Canada, in a press release.

“In order to ensure we can achieve these strategies, make the right decisions quickly and support our brokers in the best way possible across Canada, we have decided to implement regional teams with accountability for providing day-to-day service, underwriting, and developing partnerships with our brokers in each part of Canada,” he adds.

As a result, the company has created regional teams. Kent Pitkin, who has been with APRIL for two years, was promoted to vice-president for Ontario. He previously led commercial lines across Canada and will now be responsible for building relationships with and providing solutions to brokers in Ontario.

Russel Morrison was announced as APRIL’s new vice-president for Western Canada and is tasked with supporting brokers in the region. He has been with the company for almost a decade.

As well, Sebastien Gabez was promoted to vice-president for Quebec and Atlantic Canada. He will be tasked with supporting broker partners in this region and commercial lines operations. He was previously a senior executive at APRIL.

In addition to the promotions, the company also opened a new office in Calgary in April.
