Applications open for Toronto Insurance Conference scholarships

Three $5,000 scholarships are available to Canadian university students

University students who are pursuing a career in an insurance brokerage can now apply to win one of three $5,000 scholarships from the Toronto Insurance Conference (TIC).

The TIC’s scholarship program has provided financial assistance for university students since 2013. The goal of the program is to raise awareness among young Canadians about the career opportunities available within the commercial insurance brokerage industry.

The scholarships are managed by the Insurance Institute of Ontario. Applicants must be pursuing full-time university undergraduate studies in Canada in order to qualify for the program. Selection is based on academic excellence throughout the applicant’s high school and first year of post-secondary education; financial need; contribution to school and community life; other meaningful pursuits; major accomplishments and a strong indication of academic promise.

“It is critical that we bring young professionals into our industry that will bring new ideas to solving old and emerging challenges. The purpose of the TIC Scholarship Program is to encourage young people to consider a career in our industry, and provide financial assistance that will support their educational and career goals,” says Michael Loeters, president of the TIC, in a statement.

The deadline for application for the 2017 scholarship year is Sept. 8. Further details on the program can be found on the TIC’s website.
