Alberta charter plane hits birds in midair

There were no injuries among the 130 passengers

A Canadian North charter plane bound for Fort MacKay, Alta. made an emergency landing at the Calgary International Airport last night after striking some birds in midair.

The plane landed safely and there were no injuries among the more than 130 passengers, all workers headed to a Canadian Natural Resources work site.

People on the ground reported hearing a boom and seeing flames coming from the engine of the Boeing 7-37, but Canadian North said an inspection showed no signs of a fire.
