AGCS brings on new global lead for inland marine team

Richard Soja’s experience includes an executive role at a marine insurer and more than 20 years at Chubb

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) will have a new global product leader for its inland marine team on Monday.

Richard Soja joins AGCS in that role from Tokio Marine Management, a U.S.-based P&C company that specializes in marine insurance. In his new role at AGCS, Soja will be responsible for developing and executing the inland marine strategy for North America as well as proactively supporting business development at the global level. He takes over from Helen Leonard, who recently retired.

“I’m extremely pleased to welcome Richard to AGCS as his technical expertise, strong leadership style and long-standing broker relationships will drive business both at the local and global levels,” says Simon Buxton, global head of marine and energy, in a statement. “He is a pro at finding effective ways to accommodate risks and client preference, regardless of complexity, and I personally look forward to working with him and the team.”

Soja was previously senior vice president of the inland marine team at Tokio Marine Management. He was also executive vice president and chief marine underwriter at Aspen Insurance and, before that, spent more than 20 years at Chubb Insurance.
